Benefits of becoming a Placement Partner

New insights

Social Work students bring new ideas and energy to your team. With their fresh perspectives, supported by the latest practice and research approaches, students contribute innovative thinking and ideas to your organisation.

New Skills and Knowledge

Hosting placements enables access to additional professional development for supervisors. Deakin offers Social Work supervision training. guidance and resources, while also connecting supervisors to colleagues in the field. Supervising students strengthens leadership, practice and interpersonal skills.

Industry and University connections

Valuable relationships between University and sector leaders are fostered through placements. This may open up opportunities for research and program development. These links help to grow organisations’ networks, leading to possibilities for even greater collaboration.

Sector growth

Organisations hosting Social Work students are supporting the future development of the community and health sector workforce. Placements allow students to integrate their University learning into their Social Work practice framework, so they are ready to graduate. Student placements may also create a pathway for future employment within your organisation.
