Meet our Field Education Partners - Madeleine

My name is Madeleine Heaven. I work in people and culture and I work for an organization called InTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence. I coordinate the student placement program. Deakin students come to us because they’re eager to work in our space. We offer a very nuanced in language and culture program. So students that want to put their theory into practice, in language, really excel with us. We find that Deakin students have a lot of transferable skills. We find that the calibre of Deakin students is fantastic and actually that results in a lot of employment. And we’ve had plenty of students come through our student program and we’ve taken them on full time. So student work for us because not only do they work from a recruitment perspective but they also get the skills they need to make a real impact in the sector.
